“God has identified himself with the hungry, the sick, the naked, the homeless; hunger not only for bread, but for love, for care, to be somebody to someone; nakedness, not for clothing only, but nakedness of that compassion that very few people give to the unknown; homelessness, not only just for a shelter made from stone but for that homelessness that comes from having no one to call your own.”

-Mother Teresa

CHICAGO AVENUE MISSION

Freeport Area Church Cooperative is an organization of churches, which through our members, shows God’s love.

We provide food, shelter, clothing and emergency services to those most in need, and wherever possible, empower people to provide these things themselves.

Our goal is to lead people to a higher quality of life, consistent with the teachings of Christ.

“Truly, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

(Matthew 25:40)

About the Shelter

The Freeport Area Church Cooperative is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide emergency food, clothing, and shelter to those in need in Northwestern Illinois. We’re open 24/7, 365 days a year for men, women, and families. We’re constantly upgrading our shelter to increase the quality of life for our clients while we work to secure them permanent housing. Clients are provided case management and nightly meals provided by volunteering churches.
